The off-water erg training sessions run by Coach Bec Higgs, under the guidance of Coach Amanda, take place on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. These sessions are designed to enhance the physical conditioning of Maroochy River Rowing Club members, focusing on building strength, power, and endurance for rowing. Athletes use rowing machines (ergometers) to simulate the motion of rowing, with workouts tailored to improve cardiovascular fitness and muscle endurance. The training is structured with intervals, technique-focused drills, and targeted exercises to challenge both aerobic capacity and muscular strength. Coaches Bec and Amanda provide individual guidance, ensuring proper form and technique, while also fostering a supportive and motivating team environment. This off-water training complements the on-water sessions, helping rowers develop their fitness levels and become stronger, more efficient athletes. It is available to all rowers no matter their skill level on the water.
