We’re thrilled to share some exciting news from the Maroochy River Rowing Club — two of our rising stars, Djamila Heinz and Georgia Smythe, have been selected for the Queensland Pathways Team for 2025!
This prestigious honour places them among the state’s top young rowers, and it means they were chosen to represent Queensland against the very best Under 19 girls from across Australia at Penrith next week. This selection is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and incredible talent both girls have displayed throughout the season.
Their determination on and off the water has been nothing short of inspiring, and we couldn’t be prouder of their achievements.
Unfortunately, due to family commitments, Georgia is unable to participate in the upcoming competition — but her efforts in making the team have not gone unnoticed. We know this is just the beginning for her, and we can’t wait to see what’s ahead in her rowing journey.
As for Djamila, she will be donning the maroon with pride as she trains and competes in Penrith next week. We know she’ll give it her all and do Queensland — and our club — proud.
From all of us at Maroochy River Rowing, congratulations Djamila and Georgia — and Djamila, we’re cheering you on every stroke of the way! 💪🚣♀️💛
