Well the last two weeks have been an absolute whirlwind organising MRRC's attendance at the Queensland Schools Championships Regatta after the Rockhampton course was washed out in the flooding and the regatta moved to Wyaralong. Coaches, parents, rowers and committee members have pulled a mammoth effort to achieve the following:
- Four schools have signed affiliations and have crews attending
- Sunshine Coast Grammar School
- Immanuel Lutheran College
- St Andrews Anglican College
- and drumrolll.... Good Samaritan Catholic College!!!
- A number of schools have agreed to adopt rowers whose schools were unable to participate this time or who are homeschooled in order to increase the number of races that our rowers are able to participate in.
- We have also pulled together two Sunshine Coast Inter Regional Quad teams, a Girls Under 17s and an Open Boys coxed Quad. These squads come complete with one of a kind zooties that Oarsome, our zootie provider have worked very hard to get produced for us in time.
The full list of races that our rowers are participating in can be found here, but I am very pleased to announce that we are taking 12 rowers from MRRC competing in 19 races. We welcome all club members to attend the regatta and support our crews over the course of the three days to cheer on your team members and join in the excitement of the largest regatta in Queensland this year with 877 rowers competing. We will have tents erected from each school, and hopefully will be fairly easy to find.
You can see the race schedule and results online on the Rowing Manager site, or view them in our portal under Regattas Draws and Results
